This fort was constructed so that it can make a strong defense for the state along with other forts like Jaigarh Fort and amber Fort. View of Man Sagar Lake can be enjoyed from this fort. Many parts of this fort was ruined after a few years from its construction. Nahargarh Fort was rebuilt in the year 1868. At that time the structure of this fort was also extended. Rooms in Nahargarh Fort are very big in size. These rooms were linked by corridors. Mural painting is one of the main features of Rajastahni art. Walls of this fort was designed with mural paintings. Still some walls of Nahargarh Fort
bear the mark of Rajasthani wall paintings. Frescoes are still in tact on many walls of the fort building.
Maharaja Sawai Man Singh had 9 wives. There were 9 big apartments in Nahargarh Fort for these 9 wifes. All the rooms of Nahargarh Fort are well decorated and very meticulously planned rooms. This fort in Jaipur was the hunting residence of the kings of Jaipur.
