Samode Palace


Samode Palace is one of the major tourist attractions in Jaipur. The architecture and history of the palace has fascinated many travelers to the city. Apart from the Jaipur Samode Palace, there are many attractions nearby in the flourishing village of Samode. The Samode Fort in itself is a marvelous piece of architecture that protected the palace in its heyday. Samode Palace in Jaipur is typical of the Rajput havelis where Mughal style architecture is imbibed as well as Indian culture. The building has intricate designs carved in it. Samode Palace Jaipur was built by the Kachchwaha rulers in the 19th century.

In the Samode Palace, the Diwan-i-Khas is a section that is well known for its exquisiteness. This section of the palace is covered with paintings on the wall as well as mirror work. The light entering the palace is reflected from all the corners highlighting the grandness. The palace is full of the frescos that are colorful depiction of the tales related to Radha and Krishna. There is ample use of indigo colors all through the palace. The surrounding areas too add to the scenic beauty from the palace.

The Samode Palace was built as a gift to the Nathawat heir.

It was the ruler Rawal Berisal who brought about such developments and lavishness in the palace. It was during his reign that the palace was extended. Many generations are responsible for the current grandeur of the Samode Palace. After Rawal Berisal, it was Rawal Sheo Singh who made the wonderful Darbar Hall that is replete with colorful hand paintings. The Sheesh Mahal is the hall of mirrors which is decorated completely with mirrors. In 1987, the Samode Palace was turned into a heritage hotel where one can stay and at the same time feel the grandeur of the royals.

Samode Palace has numerous courtyards, pillars, chattris and domes. All the structures are carved with intricate designs. There are gardens and gates that are more than 400 years old. Travelers can reach the palace by well connected roadways and railways. The months from October to March is the best time to visit this palace. The Aravali Hills gives the palace its added advantage. The Samode Fort is located a little beyond this palace. The airport in the city of Jaipur is the air link from where there are many transportation mode to reach Samode Palace.
